Heinrich, E. WM.,and Olson, Jerry C.,() Mica Deposits of the Southeastern Piedmont, Part USGS Professional Paper G. Geologic Survey of Alabama, Mineralogy of Alabama, Bulletin Mineral and/or Locality. Evidence is presented for the origin of the pyroxenite in the mica-apatite deposits through contact metamorphism of crystalline limestone by pegmatitic solutions. The close association of pyroxenite with mica and apatite in all the deposits examined suggests that pegmatitic solutions were responsible for the deposition of these by: 4.
Geohydrology of Southeastern Pennsylvania by Dennis J. Low, Daniel J. Hippe, and Dawna Yannacci Water-Resources Investigations Report In cooperation with the PENNSYLVANIA DEPARTMENT OF CONSERVATION AND NATURAL RESOURCES, BUREAU OF TOPOGRAPHIC AND GEOLOGIC SURVEY New Cumberland, Pennsylvania The Aurora Phosphate District is located in the general vicinity of Aurora, North Carolina (Fig. 1). It encompasses the area of active mining, and it lies within the Aurora Embayment, a Miocene depocenter bounded to the north and south by paleotopographic highs (Riggs et. al, ).
In Alabama, graphite generally occurs as flakes dispersed within the metamorphic rocks of the Piedmont section in the east-central part of the state. The mineral is particularly abundant in Clay, Coosa, and southeastern Chilton Counties, and the graphite-rich rocks within these counties form one of the largest graphite deposits in the United. MICA Mica is widely distributed throughout the Piedmont Plateau. It has been work- ed to a limited extent in Upson, Cherokee, Lumpkin, Union, Hall and Rabun coun- ties. Some of the most promising pros- pects in Cherokee County are in the vicinity of Holly Springs and Toonigh, and in the Hickory Plats district about ten miles southeast of Canton.
